City and County of Swansea Social Services are reviewing the services provided to people with sight loss in Swansea and they want to hear your views.
We are organising another long weekend holiday for CVV Members at the end of September.Once again our destination is the wonderful Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth, Devon, operated by the Vision group of hotels and specially designed to accommodate guests with sight loss.
CVV is driven by our members and County Steering Groups who meet to discuss issues affecting people with sight loss in everyday life.
We are hosting a trip for Swansea Members to Sight Village, Birmingham on 18th July, giving members an insight into the latest assistive gadgets and access services available to visually impaired people.
Lovers of the theatre will be happy to know that we have launched a theatre goers group for people throughout our region.
Members throughout Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot are invited to join our shopping trip to Cribb’s Causeway near Bristol on April 10th.
Following the success of our last trip away, we will be organising another group weekend getaway in May. CVV members have enjoyed previous trips to hotels run by Vision Hotels Group, which are specially designed and run to meet the needs of people with sight loss.
We have been informed by Swansea buses that their REACT scheme will go live on 3rd October. The cost of the fobs will be £15 refundable deposit and the location to pick them up is the Swansea Bus Station bus information point from 08.30 am. 20 fobs are available on a first come first serve basis
Preparing and cooking food is one of the biggest challenges to people with sight loss, but it could hardly be more essential for everyday living.
Which is why CVV is working on an innovative new cooking project for blind and visually impaired people. Run in partnership with the WI, YMCA Swansea and Health Promotion Swansea, it will be tested as a pilot, before rolling out officially. We will bring more tasty news shortly.
